The detail in the rock cut facades are mind boggling. (And no, I didn't find the holy grail!!)
We walked over 6 hours before we had to go home.
This is the high altar (it's at a high elevation) where animal sacrifices would take place to their gods.
After climbing some 850 steps we arrived in record breaking speed to the so-called "Monastery" (a 45 min. walk but 23 minutes for the ambitious!). One of the most well known facades, Ad Dayr (85-110 BC). (See details below.)
Again, the artistic architecture is very impressive. The evening sun and long shadows added to the ambience.
