What are you doing for the Fortnight of Freedom?
"The day when Americans could take the Founders' understanding of religious freedom as a given is over," said the Archbishop Chaput. "We need to wake up." - See more of this article at CNS here.  And what it is and what can I do for the "Fortnight of Freedom"? here.
The “Fortnight of Freedom” was called for by the US Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB), in their words, “a two-week period of prayer and action, to address many current challenges to religious liberty, including the August 1, 2013 deadline for religious organizations to comply with the HHS mandate, Supreme Court rulings that could attempt to redefine marriage in June, and religious liberty concerns in areas such as immigration and humanitarian services.”
In a nut shell, our freedoms in the US are under attack.  If we don't realize this we are either deceived, blind, or simply apathetic.  Please make yourself aware and take this to prayer, fasting and action within your capabilities as a responsible citizen of the USA (though "strangers and sojourners" here) and a faithful citizen of Christ's Church on earth, the "Church militant."
The Fortnight began with the feast of St Thomas More for a reason, see why here.  May God bless our nation with the grace to be courageous.
St Thomas More, pray for us!

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.  Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

I'm a Catholic priest and Army chaplain currently serving in parishes and part time National Guard. I was a prior service enlisted soldier in field artillery and armor before I heard the call and took the plunge into the ministerial priesthood. From M1 tanker to priest and chaplain all by the grace of God...never underestimate the power of God in a sinner's life.
I love our Holy Catholic Faith and the priesthood and thought this blog would be a great way to stay connected to all my Christian family and friends, as well as, to share the many joys and shine the light of hope in the trials of living the Faith in tumultuous times.
